Fluctuations, variations, oscillations in the values of intensity, frequency or accumulation. Fluctuations in the approach to the creative work, the artistic intentions and in the personal style. For this, this album is titled as it is. It is a disc that covers a period of ten years within the electroacoustic production of Alejandro Albornoz, with pieces composed between 2006 and 2016. All the works are acousmatic and reflect the author’s interest in this “Art of fixed sounds”, as Michel Chion defines it.

Although some of the pieces were created following the acousmatic premises, namely with a strong attention on sounds as objects with a graspable structure, it is also true that many of them not only include referential sonorities, but also are articulated as sound discourses on time from the fluctuation between what is merely formal-abstract and what is connotative-symbolic. Among the referential materials, the human voice has a favored presence since the earliest works and this remains as a remarkable expressive and conceptual value. The advent of new ways and pieces in other formats, which include, dialogue or which leave the acousmatic path, is an endeavour that the author hopes to address in future fluctuations of his artistic work.

In addition to this release, two music collections can be accessed in the Pueblo Nuevo netlabel website:

– “Fluctuaciones 2”, which includes 14 additional acousmatic pieces, all of them composed between 2004 and 2012 and different from the works included in the CD.

– “Fluctuaciones 3: Live electronics”, which includes 3 live improvisations (2009, 2012 & 2014).
